Very Large Spirit Flask

A very large Hip Flask made of silver plate, glass and leather. This flask has the maker's marks for James Dixon of Sheffield.

The leather to the top half has been rolled to give it a faint mock crocodile appearance. As is typical of Dixon, the neck is stamped with his trumpet in banner logo to one side with JD&S to the other. The removable drinking cup to the bottom is engraved with the entwined initials DN. The bottom of the flask is also stamped EP for Eltro Plate with JD&S and the trumpet in banner logo. This flask was once given as a Christmas gift as the base is also engraved XMas 1891.

The size of this flask would make it useful for sharing several warming tots at a shoot or the races. Dated 1891.
